Picanha de novilho is a tri tip of a veal. I took a portion of our teams argentinian meat sponsors store a couple of weeks ago and boy thats a good piece of meat !
I grilled it on my Primo Oval XL with some olive wood for flavour. The meat only got some EVOO and sea salt on top, and some fresh ground pepper later on at the table.
Had some grilled romaine lettuce with EVOO, S&P and Parmesan cheese, some grilled bell pepper and toasted bread with chipotle butter to that.
Finished the meal with a cold Paulaner Beer and had a Bourbon-Cream liqueur as dessert.
Life is good !
Only trouble with this dinner was that somehow i ******* up my camera settings, so the pics are crap. Anyway, the veal was fabulous. If you ever get your hands on that cut – go for it !

I know very well this cut,since I am fond of Portugal,where the Picanha is commonly used (Brasil was a colony…) on the wonderful churrasco.
Novilho means (veal,in English – Vitello in Italian) a tender and juicy meat.
However,I noticed that your cut was without the classic greasy stripe on the edge.
Anyway a good and classic recipe !
Have a little suggestion: try to change the lettuce with some Radicchio Trevigiano (red chickory)…it works so good on bbq,try it and let us know !
